This project was produced by an Introduction to Liberal Arts (ILA) class, taught by Dr. Brianne Donaldson in Fall 2015, at Monmouth College, in Monmouth, IL. Our ILA class, like all the other sections, had one common text: Curious: The Desire to Know and Why Your Future Depends on It (Basic Books, 2014) by Ian Leslie.
Our class discovered what it means to be deeply curious and how this kind of sustained curiosity can lead to an increase in one’s own knowledge and care. As a class, we were driven by our own curiosity and desire to learn more about Monmouth College and the surrounding town, and what it truly holds beneath the surface.
Each student in the class had their own journey discovering new things about their chosen topic. These journeys were not easy for most of the student, but in the end they were extremely rewarding. As a class we had to work together as a team and rely on one another to produce a successful outcome. But through the challenging times, we overcame our own obstacles and gained a great learning experience together.
